GLASGOW TO BALLOCH CYCLE RUN - ROUTE DESCRIPTION:

Location: Glasgow
Map: OS Landranger 64; Spokes Glasgow Cvcle Map RPL02
Distance: 20miles ( 30km )
Time: 1.5-3 hours
Terrain: flat traffic-free cycle path

The route starts at Bell’s Bridge on National Route 7 of the National Cycle Network close to the Glasgow Science Centre.
Pedal west along the River Clyde cyclepath before heading away from the river's edge.
Ride past the Riverside Museum and along South Street before joining the old railway track through Whiteinch and Scotstoun.
Follow the signs through Yoker into Clydebank, where you join the towpath of the Forth and Clyde Canal.
Pass under the Erskine Bridge into Bowling, where the canal meets the Firth of Clyde.
From Bowling, follow another old railway line into Dumbarton.
The route then heads north away from the Firth of Clyde towards Loch Lomond, following the meandering and ﬂood-prone River Leven on a path through Renton, Alexandria and Balloch.
From Balloch it’s a short hop to the Loch Lomond Shores visitor centre and Balloch Castle Country Park.
The route can be ridden in either direction. If you only want to ride one way, there are plenty of railway stations close to the route.
