The
Forth & Clyde Canal provides
a route for vessels
at the narrowest part of the
Lowlands of Scotland

        between
the Firth of Forth and the Firth
of Clyde.
        The
canal is 35 miles ( 56km
) long.
        The
western end of the canal connects

to the River Clyde at Bowling.
        It
passes through Maryhill

        in the north of Glasgow.
        The
eastern end connects to the River Forth

        via the River Carron
near Grangemouth.

A walkway / cycle path runs

alongside the canal.
