Ait
Benhaddou Kasbah at Quarzazate in the
sub-sahara a fortified city ( ksar ) on the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakesh. It
is situated in Souss-Massa-Draâ on a hill along the Ouarzazate River and contains some beautiful examples of kasbahs. Aït
Benhaddou is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

a place for a local leader
to live and for defense when under attack.
